‘The Deal’ Offers a Batman vs. Joker Endgame

November 11, 2013

PAGINA 07

Though the jury may still be out on what actually happened at the end of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s The Killing Joke, fan comic The Deal, by Gerardo Preciado and Daniel Bayliss, is far from ambiguous.  It’s no new endeavor to suggest that there may be some sort of endgame in store for Batman and the Joker.  Creators have spent many a word and drawing testing the waters in an attempt to present their argument for what they think would eventually happen, with many suggesting that Batman would one day break his “no killing” rule.

The Deal toys with the psychological dynamic of dependency mixed with the suggestion of destiny, positing that Batman and the Joker are more than their physical bodies, and that the 2 need each other to exist and to cease existing.
